What is Nordic Salon 2017?

Nordic Salon is a juried art exhibition for artists living and working in the Nordic countries: Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Greenland, the Faroe Islands and Åland.

How often is Nordic Salon held?

Nordic Salon is held every three years and was founded in 2014.

Which organizations are behind Nordic Salon?

Nordic Salon is a collaboration between Helsingborg’s Art Association and Dunkers kulturhus in Helsingborg, Sweden.

Where is Nordic Salon taking place?

Nordic Salon is held in an 800 m² exhibition space on the 3rd floor of Dunkers kulturhus in Helsingborg, Sweden.

Who can apply to Nordic Salon 2017?

All artists who are permanent residents that live and work in the Nordic countries.

Can a group of artists apply together?

Yes.

Which artistic mediums/categories do you accept for judging?

Painting, drawing, sculpture, textile, film/video, photography, installation and mixed media

Can I apply with works that have previously been judged?

No. The works must not be more than three years old and never exhibited in Skåne, Sweden.

How many artworks do I need to submit?

Each artist must submit five (5) works of art. Of these five artworks, one (1) to five (5) works may be accepted. Of the accepted works, Nordic Salon reserves the right to exhibit one (1) to (5) works. All artworks must be delivered ready to hang.

How do I apply for Nordic Salon 2017?

1.  Apply here on this website. Click on “Click to open Application Form” on the left side of the screen and fill in the form.
2. Then pay the 400 SEK application-/judging fee.

When and how will I know if my artwork has been accepted?

The accepted artists and artworks will be listed on this website. Also, you will receive a decision via email or letter on September 6, 2017.

What do I do once I have been accepted to the exhibition?

You send the accepted original artworks to Dunkers kulturhus, Attn. Nordic Salon, Kungsgatan 11, Helsingborg, Sweden to be delivered on October 17 and 18, 2017 anytime between 10:00 – 16:00.

Do I need to drop off my work in person?

No, it is ok to send your artworks via a courier or transport company.

Where can I find a place to stay in Helsingborg?

There are several good hotels to choose from in various price categories in central Helsingborg within walking distance from Dunkers kulturhus. Visit http://www.visithelsingborg.com/en/stay/ for a list of hotels.

Who decides the price of the artworks?

The artist decides. Make sure to provide a price that includes everything including framing and our 25% commission.

How much is the commission?

On sold artwork, Nordic Salon takes a 25% commission of the price.

Does the artwork that has been accepted by the jury have to be for sale?

Yes, all accepted artworks must be for sale. The price should be set in Swedish crowns.
